I practice from a psychodynamic perspective, which helps people to understand how their early experiences may be unconsciously influencing their current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. I have particular experience in supporting individuals who are experiencing loss, grief, and difficulty in relationships. Personally, I value an adaptive approach of therapy that caters to the unique needs of every individual.
I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for a mutually agreed period of time. Our initial session would be a 60-minute consultation to give us a broader picture of your past experiences, current circumstances, and what you would like to achieve in our work together. After this we will agree on a set 50-minute time to meet weekly; this will be your space and set-aside therapy time.
In our work together we may consider how the strategies that you developed as a child to cope may be creating unhelpful patterns in your current situation. It is also an opportunity to explore how the important relationships in your life and the relationship to your own race, class, culture, and sexuality may have shaped you.
I value the importance of listening to and believing every individual’s unique experience. This has been greatly influenced by my background in supporting neurodivergent students with ADHD and Autism.
Alongside my private practice, I continued to volunteer at a low-cost counselling service that provides affordable talking therapy to the community.
I have previously worked as an honorary therapist at a charity that specialises in sexuality & relationships and has been openly campaigning for LGBTQIA+ rights since the 1950s.
As well as providing excellent training on difference and diversity, both roles have given me in-depth training and experience in working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, panic attacks, and trauma.
I hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy, from Birkbeck University of London.
The course is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I am a registered member of the BACP
